Art Auction Mania
Written on February 23, 2007
As everyone knows the art boom cycle refuses to go bust. There was an interesting article in New York Magazine last week about how a major collection was hitting the market, Thomas Solley, a descendant of the Eli Lilly family, had started collecting prints in the 70’s, including such classics as Dovima with Elephants (by yours truly), Versace Dress by Herb Ritts and Flatiron Building by Edward Steichen (below). Estimates varied from $25,000 to $60,000.

Suffice it to say a large number of pieces went for a wee bit more than that….PDN has a good summary here.
The art boom just won’t stop.
