Amazing article today in the New York Times today by Michael Kimmelman about James Nachtwey…in addition to his recent show at 401 Projects (the opening for which I had the good fortune to attend) the exhibition “World Free of TB” is showing at the UN.
My favourite excerpt…
“The marine said he thought these pictures should be […]
The heavy word on the street was that noted fashion shooter Nathaniel Goldberg (Harper’s Bazaar, French Vogue) was heading to Art + Commerce after several years with his former agent.

And who do I see as the newest addition on the site? Someone who has been absolutely everywhere lately. Solve Sundsbo. […]
It seems that Getty has re-branded its representation division under the name of Orchard. I actually think that’s a decent name. And perhaps it will help Getty differentiate its assignment services from its stock licensing. However I am not holding my breath.
Apologies for the dearth of posts…but on March 21st the winner of the Deutsche Borse Photography Prize was announced, awarded to Walid Raad/The Atlas Group for his real, and constructed, photographic documentation of Lebanese history.

Does anybody know where he has landed yet after leaving Art + Commerce?
Andreas Gursky’s 99 Cent II was recently auctioned for $3.3 million, setting the record for a photographic work being sold at auction. One of his other 99 Cent II pieces had already sold for $2.48 million. Pretty crazy stuff!

So those forward thinkers over at Art + Commerce have recently launched Tip of the Tongue, a broadsheet dedicated to essays, debate and discussion on the art of photography. Headed by Charlotte Cotton, A+C’s director of cultural events, I think this will be a great forum to discuss photographic trends and issues.
The first essay by […]
The good people at American Photo have written up a great list of shows to go see…starting with Taryn Simon at the Whitney.
I still have to go see the Cartier-Bresson and Martin Munkacsi shows at ICP. For shame.
