Book of the Month
Written on June 17, 2007
One of the resolutions I gave myself a few months ago was to buy a new photography book each month, to try and build my small and rather sad collection.
This month, I purchased “Life and Work. Bernd and Hilla Becher” by Susanna Lange. I’ve been an admirer of their work since coming across it a few years ago at the Cruel and Tender exhibition at the Tate Modern back in 2003. The husband and wife duo have been working and teaching together since the 60’s, documenting entire generations of industrial architecture.
Their students have included the likes of Thomas Ruff, Andreas Gursky and Candida Hofer (whose book “Libraries” was my other choice for this month).
