Aperture in High-Definition

Written on September 28, 2007

I can’t seem to find a lot of links on this, but if you get Aperture’s newsletter in your inbox then you might have heard that they are launched a half hour series called, you got it, Aperture, in conjunction with Gallery HD, Voom’s high-definition channel devoted to the visual arts.

The press release is here (in PDF format) and it looks pretty interesting, showcasing the likes of Vik Muniz and David Byrne.  Since I am a part of the 95% of the population who do not have HD programming I can’t view the series, but a friend who knows someone who knows someone has apparently secured me some episodes so I’ll let you know what they’re like.

I’ve watched five of the six episodes and they were all intriguing and highly informative however, my friend, Donna Ferrato’s recent episode- interviewed by actress Ally Sheedy - was by far the most captivating. Each episode is repeated at least twice during the week.

Really good TV for a change.
