Some overdue links from the past few weeks…
(Hybrids by Klaus Thymann)
An important post at Popphoto on a New York Times article covering the Dead Celebrity Law, and how it affects image rights and celebrities in California
Oliviero Toscani, still controversial, interview in Time
VII Agency joins the growing photography community in Dumbo (and recently welcomed two new members)
Via Serif, an amazing retoucher’s amazing site…showing his workflow
And Klaus Thymann has a new book out..The Hybrids Project. You might have attended the launch party in New York two weeks back. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Klaus and it’s always great when successful commercial photographers take the time to pursue personal projects
140 Years of Harper’s Bazaar. The Avedon and Brodovitch years are especially memorable
Continuing my semi-obsession with Karl Lagerfeld…an interview on Charlie Rose via The Business of Fashion and an interview with Randolphe Marconi over at On The Runway whose documentary Lagerfeld Confidential recently came out at the Film Forum. Great viewing!
The economics of running a magazine, in light of the recent and sad shuttering of House & Garden’s doors. I would love to see an analysis of this for something like Dazed & Confused or Purple or POP…
A new photo editor at Men’s Vogue…
and lastly it seems there’s another anonymous blog, The Imagist out there, this time a model agent? Though this blog is more concerned with art and fashion from an inspirational and culturally relevant point of view…

[…] Hybrids Project is a new photography book by Klaus Thymann. The book is filled with interesting images covering “…micro-pockets of hybrid cultures…” including snow polo, gay rodeo, underwater striptease, hip hop in china, an indoor beach, rave as religion and many more. The website for the book is equally interesting, with a unique thumbnail and preview system. thumbs up. oh and book design by Love Creative. [via Avisualsociety] […]
