Busy Start…

Written on January 15, 2008

Hi everyone..sorry for not writing more but it’s been a busy start to the new year (never a bad thing!)

One of my photographers is in town for a multiple location shoot, with a very broad creative brief (ah yes, one of those).

Anyways, this busy start, an expired cellphone contract and some due diligence has lead me to finally caving in…and getting the Blackberry Curve.

I consider myself a fairly technical person with good knowledge of all that CDMAGRPSEDGEMHZ stuff and the whole interwebular highway thing, and I’ve always been the type of person to get a phone that wouldn’t be available in this country for another two years or so (which, admittedly isn’t very hard considering this country’s wonderful telecommunications structure), but I had always resisted the Blackberry for some reason.

I love it.

It’s only been a few days but I can see why people are so into it. It’s not so much that it’s addictive in and of itself, but that you can do so much with it…and therefore you feel like you have to be on it CONSTANTLY.

It seems to be the tool of choice for most of us in the photo business…a few friends got the iPhone and switched back shortly after realizing that the iPhone wasn’t, like, very good at communicating with people.

Anyways, if anyone has thoughts on this, please share. Or post some cool Blackberry hacks.

There is of course the entire google/blackberry sweet (maps and mail, but now also sync between g-cal and bb-cal.) other than that get the operamini browser (operamini.com).

oh, and you can access almost any google product formatted for mobile on one of the browsers (reader, docs, notebook, news, etc)

oh, and check out simulsays. visual voicemail (like the iphone) which works well. (actually a transcription service, but normal voicemail services are free.)

    hope that helps some.
