A very prominent agent at a very prominent agency has left to start her own agency…

This is the equivalent of…well, honestly, I can’t think of anything.

(By the way, if you can’t figure this out then in all likelihood you will really not care. Otherwise, this is HUGE news.)

I think if it’s “power” you’re concerned with, good luck understanding what really makes a great agency.

Again, who really cares. OOOOO power!!!! What ever happened to just good management for good people that shoot great images. Let’s see how great this great “agent” does when she isn’t backed by a big agency?

#3 and #5…not sure where this talk about ‘power’ is coming from.

it’s about someone who wants to take the next logical step and start their own business, and providing the photographers with more attention than they could otherwise.

and it’s big news because it’s in our industry. i deleted an earlier, idiotic comment written in all caps that said something along the lines of “who cares, photographers come and go, no one cares etc”. well then stop reading this blog. what a dumb blanket statement.

let’s try and keep the few comments we get here somewhat intelligent guys.

That “blanket” statement was a reaction to your initial comment on The Biggest News, yes it is somewhat big news for the agent and the agency but in the scheme of NEWS, Hmmm, well not that huge. I do feel that an Agent who has proved themselves in the business over and over again, should definately get the praise and rewards that they deserve. If that agent isn’t getting that from the company that they are making millions for than, they should leave for something better. I CONGRATULATE this agent on making the move and praise her for her courage to go on her own, and hope that her clients follow. I wish her the very best.

It’s about keeping the integrity of the ART. Photography is an ART it must be preserved.

It needs to be a collective endeavor!!! It’s time for a resurgence in the craft and I think she is the one to do it…

BRAVO for someone having the “guts” shall we say to stand up to the big guys!!!

    BRAVO INDEED!

WHO left WHERE to create WHAT agency? Can you provide links? What’s up with the mystery? Not a very good way to handle big news. Tres annoying, frankly.

Yes Jae Choi has left Art+Commerce to start her own agency. She represented Inez + Vinoodh, Clang, David Armstrong and M/M Paris at Art and Commerce

As I don’t believe she walked in the door with those artists - if she’s trying to walk of the door with them — if she will be allowed to contiue to work with them — i would think there would have to be a significant settlement deal with art and commerce

So far only one artist is leaving with her and it’s not the one people might expect…

It always amuses me how a reader of someone else’s site dares to dictate what is and isn’t big news to the author. Good luck to her planned business.

Speaking from experience, I have dealt with almost every agent and agency in the business and Jae is the best agent, period. She believes in the Art of photography and has nurtured the artists she has represented and allowed them to fulfill their creative vision. I applaud her for starting something new and exciting.
