Word on the Street

Written on January 28, 2008

Sorry for the inconsistent posts…I caught up on the news and here’s some linkage.

Interview is being overhauled with the resignation of Ingrid Sischy and sale Brant Publications by Sandra Brant to her ex-husband Peter Brant, who has hired Fabien Baron and Glenn O’Brien as Creative Director and Editorial Chief. Expect to see some even bigger name photographers to start appearing in the magazine…(via WWD)

Thousands of negatives of Robert Capa’s, thought to be lost forever, recovered and being brought back to ICP.

The print ad of the future…maybe we will need to start hiring sound and smell stylists on set. Sort of an awkward video interview…

Photo consultations are all the rage right now it seems…Conscientious did a review of Liz Kuball’s work (via Jackanory) and APE will be reviewing one Clay Stang with Leslie Burns Dell’Acqua of Burns Auto Parts via online chat. Can’t wait to see that.

Also via APE, PJ’s Network is a great job resource for those in the business. I’ve been a longtime subscriber and she definitely hears about all the jobs out there.

Getty Images is for sale. Maybe all the photographers represented by Getty should pool their income to buy it.

Interview with Steve McCurry over at PDN.

Great preview of Self-Service 28 over at Work in Progress’s blog

Fantastic interview with photographer Chris Floyd by Jackanory.

Not specifically photography related, but the branding of Uniqlo, and its US launch, has used great photography and design in its marketing.
