Since the Morgan Library unfortunately did not have reproduction rights to the amazing Irving Penn portraiture exhibition they hosted the last few months, I had to ’settle’ for a book by Penn called A Notebook At Random, which I found to be fascinating…a method to this man’s amazing artistry. Worth picking up for sure.

Got this invite for Ari Marcopoulos’ new book exhibition at Dashwood Books, “The Chance is Higher”, consisting of 40 black-and-white images printed entirely on a Xerox machine.
I guess that’s what one did before iPhoto!

I am not overly familiar with his work but perusing his site his work is reminiscent of peers such as Martin Parr and Paul Graham, truly British photography, making the everyday interesting, even amongst planned estates and roadworks…focusing on a wide variety of subject matter.

From Style.com…in honour of Irving Penn’s upcoming 90th birthday, a limited edition (90, of course) book has been created by the Aplanat Galerie für Fotografie in Hamburg, with 42 photographs shot in the Penn style.
